She was the fourth of eight children. Jennie's parents moved the family from Kentucky to the Birch Tree area of Shannon County, Missouri about 1890. At age thirty three, Jennie finally met her feller and was betrothed to the Reverend Andrew Jackson Bridgewater in 1904. Only a few short months later, God called Andrew home. He died November 2, 1905. Jennie never remarried and remained in the home with her father until his death in 1920. Jennie continued to live in Birch Tree until her death in 1967. MY BIRTHDAY March 9, 1890 The royal orb of day has bidden the shadows of night to depart and in all his splendor burnishes with gold the eastern heavens. The merry little birds sing their sweetest melody; even the little wren in its dark brown winter coat sings melodious. And the merry streamlet ripples through the grove, singing its low sweet morning song. It should be a happy birthday, while enjoying so much of natures own freedom and loveliness. On such a day one can easily fancy the sweet breath of the flowers present and the warm soft southern breeze, as it wafts to us every harmonious sound. The beautiful blue heavens smile down sweetly in their nobleness and grandeur; as the benign humble grass peeps up to meet the precious smile. While making mention of so many charming things the sun has crept over our heads and disappeared below the western horrizon, and quiet peace forvades a most beautiful scene. It is so lovely in the gathering of the twilight. And the moon with such glorious splendor, illuminates with such magnificent dignity. Ah! the day has past and gone. The shadows seem so cold.
