Reid ~~~~~~~ Obituary- "Mrs. Martha Hinkle, widow of Philip Hinkle, deceased, was born in Kentucky, Oct. 1786, and died of cancer in the face and head, February 4th, 1874, aged 84 years. She and her husband joined the M.E. Church in their youth in Kentucky, so that she had been a consistent member of the church between sixty and seventy years. Reid ~~~~~~~ Obituary- "Mrs. Martha Hinkle, widow of Philip Hinkle, deceased, was born in Kentucky, Oct. 1786, and died of cancer in the face and head, February 4th, 1874, aged 84 years. She and her husband joined the M.E. Church in their youth in Kentucky, so that she had been a consistent member of the church between sixty and seventy years. In our recollection, over thirty years, she made no mistakes, but all her life was consistent. During her protracted illness, while her sufferings were very great, she neither murmured or complained. She and her husband were members of the first class organized in this neighborhood, over fifty years ago. A vast congregation, greater than could be seated in the church, were present at the burial. Rev. E. Gaskins officiated at the funeral. Rev. Jas. F. Harvey made a few remarks about the useful and consistent lives of the deceased and her husband in the early history of this neighborhood, and exhorted the present generation to be faithful and keep up society as well as these and other pioneers have handed it down to us.
