Friday, October 6, 2006 at the First Mennonite Church, R. Beatrice, NE. Martha R. Jantzen, 81 years of age, of Beatrice, NE. passed away at the Parkview Center in Beatrice, NE. Tuesday morning, October 3, 2006. She was born on September 16, 1925 in Kennard, NE. to Frank and Stella Holland. She and Herbert J. Jantzen were married on May 6, 1966 at the First Mennonite Church, R. Beatrice, NE. They lived on a farm southeast of Plymouth, NE. during the 31 years of their marriage. She moved into Beatrice, NE. in 1998. She was a member of the First Mennonite Church, and the Women in Mission (Shepherd Group). She enjoyed reading, attending her Shepherd Group, and visiting with family and friends. Survivors include 3 sisters, Ruth Turpin of Arvada, Colorado, Flossie Mounce of Nebraska City, NE., and Velma Cody; sister in law Bertha Penner of Newton, KS.; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Stella Holland; husband Herbert J. Jantzen (November 26, 1997), and 2 brothers Art and Frank Holland. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 6, 2006 at the First Mennonite Church, R. Beatrice, NE. with Reverend Florence Schloneger and Reverend Weldon Schloneger officiating. Interment will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, October 6, 2006 at the Mennonite Cemetery R. Beatrice, NE. The body will lie in state Thursday from 10-9:00 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice, NE. and not at the church. A memorial has been established to the Mennonite Central Committee with Duane Claassen and Richard Epp in charge. Messages of condolence may be sent to [email protected] They will be forwarded to the family. Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice is in charge of the services.
