Description	:	SCHELKOPF, MARTIN L.—Martin L Schelkopf was born at Brimfield, Peoria, county, Ill., April 15, 1858. He departed this life at his home near Shickley, Neb., May 7, 1929, aged 71 years and 22 days. Mr. Schelkopf came to Nebraska in 1884, and bought a farm in Hamilton township and then returned to Illinois. To this union seven children were born, all of whom... Read More	SCHELKOPF, MARTIN L.—Martin L Schelkopf was born at Brimfield, Peoria, county, Ill., April 15, 1858. He departed this life at his home near Shickley, Neb., May 7, 1929, aged 71 years and 22 days. Mr. Schelkopf came to Nebraska in 1884, and bought a farm in Hamilton township and then returned to Illinois. In 1885 he returned to Nebraska, taking up his home on a farm where he resided till death called him home. Mr. Schelkopf was united in marriage to Miss Elma Beeson, December 14, 1886. To this union seven children were born, all of whom are living. Mr. Schelkopf was always active in county and community affairs. He served on the county board of supervisors for twelve years, acting as chairman a number of years. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America. His happiest moments were those given in service to his fellowmen. He was a strong believer in the Creator and expressed his readiness to meet his Savior and his God ere he was called home. He leaves to mourn his death his loving wife, seven children, Edgar J. of Shickley; Lillian A. Kimbrough and Martin A. of O’Neill; Elizabeth of Shickley; Jessie F. Lambert of San Diego, Cal; Isaac N. of Shickley; and Helen Hedden of Harvard; twelve grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Anton Simon and Mrs. Anthony Eisenmenger of Humphrey, Neb.; Mrs. Anna McDonough of Brimfield, Ill.; and two brothers, John and Joe, also of Brimfield, Ill; besides a host of other relatives and friends. In the passing of Martin Schelkopf, the family loses a kind and loving husband and father; and the community a valuable neighbor and citizen, as he was ever found to be working for the best interest of all concerned. The funeral service was held at the home Thursday afternoon, May 9. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. The service was conducted by Rev. W.G. Conner of Strang, assisted by Brothers Schlegel and Reeb. All of the seven children were present for the funeral service, also all the brothers and sisters. We wish to express our appreciation of the many tokens of sympathy and kindness shown us by our friends and neighbors in our recent loss. Mrs. Martin L. Schelkopf and family.
