MARTIN WILLIAM EDWARDS Martin William Edwards, son of Lois Wade and Isaac Edwards, was born Jan. 7 , 1872 in Jewel County, Kansas, and died on May 10 at the age of 83 years, 4 months and 3 days. He was the second child of seven; his parents and one brother, Charlie, have preceded him in death. When two weeks old they moved to Old Cincinnati and then when seven years of age moved to Pawnee City. He was united in marriage to Susie Kaserman of DuBois on Dec. 26, 1900. To this union eight children were born, four boys and four girls. A daughter died in infancy and Harold died in 1940 and Gladys in 1951. They resided in Pawnee City after their marriage until 1922. Then moving to Kansas they lived at Havensville and Topeka until 1938 when they made Oklahoma their home. In 1947 they returned to make their home in DuBois. Mart was engaged as a mason in many different kinds of construction work. He was known as a kind and generous father and friend and well liked by those who knew him. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Susie, five children, William Martin, Gillette, Wyo., Mrs. Lois Rosean, Sabetha, Kans., Vern I., Omaha; Mrs. Viola Peek, Denver; and Edward E., Midwest City, Okla.; one brother Guy of Dawson, Nebr.; four sisters, Mrs. Mollie Perry, Lexington, Ill.,; Mrs. Bertha Tibbets, Falls City, Mrs. Nellie Cornell, Falls City, and Mrs Hazel Reynolds, Pawnee City; 23 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. Funeral service was held in the DuBois E.U.B. church with Rev. Duane Lenz officiating on May 13. A mixed quartet sang two numbers, "In the Garden" and "Beyond the Sunset." Pallbearers were: Darwin Hammond, Kenneth Peek, Lawrence Olsen, Hugh Jaynes, John Shelton and Curtis Hanneman. Interment was in Pawnee City cemetery.
