Mr. Kruse was born April 24, 1910, in Philip, S.D., to Gustave and Anna (Heileman) Kruse. He grew up on the family farm northwest of Crofton and attended Blyville School. He farmed with his father and brother Milton in Crofton until 1935 at which time he continued farming with his brother until 1942. He entered the U.S. Army in 1942 serving during WWII in the 89th Infantry Divison until being honorably discharged in 1945, He moved to Yankton in 1947 and has held various jobs and positions until the present. He was a lifetime member of the Earnest Bowyer Post No. 791, VFW in Yankton. Survivors include two sister-in-laws: LaVonne and Miriam Kruse, both of Yankton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
