Read More	Marvin Fred Bormann, age 81, died on October 9, 2007, at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Marvin was born on April 3 1926, near Beardsley, SD. He was the son of Fred G. and Mary (Krause) Bormann, one of eight siblings. He was raised in the Stickney area and graduated from Stickney High School in 1944. He graduated from Yankton College with a degree in Business Administration in 1948. In 1949 he married Carol Hohbach of Plankinton, SD. He was involved in the printing business in Stickney, SD, Opelousas, LA, Bellevue, IL, and Parker, SD. before returning to Stickney to enter into the banking business with family members in 1953. He ultimately became the President and principal owner of the Farmers State Bank and Bormann Brothers Insurance Agency in Stickney. In 1979, he sold the bank and agency, but remained involved in the real estate business in Stickney until he retired. Marv and Carol moved to Sioux Falls in 1995. His first love was his wife of 58 years, and his next loves were his four children, ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. He also had a lifelong interest in fishing, hunting, sports of all kinds, travel (especially to banking meetings), his church, and politics. Marvin has been a member of First Lutheran Church, the Shriners, and the Downtown Kiwanis Club in Sioux Falls. During his years in the banking business in Stickney, he was involved in every phase of community endeavor. He helped organize the senior citizen center and the community development corporation. He owned the first bowling alley in Stickney, developed the Bormann Addition to Stickney (which included land he donated for two new churches), and was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Stickney School Board when the new school addition was built in 1968. In 1977, he was the first recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the South Dakota High School Activities Association. Apr 2, 2001, was declared Marvin F. Bormann Day in the State of South Dakota by the Governor. He always served others, and never put himself first. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Carol, his children Sherry (Vance) Goldammer, Sioux Falls, SD, Gregory (Connie) Bormann, Mitchell, SD, Janell (Christopher) Miller, Louisville, KY, and Tamara (Philip) Lundy, Sioux Falls, SD; ten grandchildren, Jason (Amanda) Bormann, Amy (Tim) Grimsrud, Paul Goldammer, Emily Bormann, Amanda Lundy, Allison Bormann, Michael Lundy, Justin Miller, Janna Miller and Christina Miller; one great grandchild (Geneva Rose Bormann) with another great grandchild on the way; his brothers Ivan, Earl and Donald, and numerous nieces and nephews. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Donna Bormann, Gladys Neugebauer, and Carol Masodi, and his brother Vern. Memorials may be directed to the Media Ministry Equipment Fund at First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls or to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stickney, SD.
