Mr. Houk died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 1996, at the HCA Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He was born Aug. 8, 1915, in Kanawaka, the son of Frank W. and Catherine Unger Houk. He was raised and educated in Stull and Lawrence. He and his wife made their home in Clinton until moving to Geuda Springs in 1973. Mr. Houk was a farmer all his life and was a member of the Unitarian Church of Stull. Mr. Houk married Alma Louise Harrell April 26, 1941, in Clinton. She died Nov. 27, 1984. He was also preceded in death by a grandson. Survivors include a son, Marvin John Houk Jr., Geuda Springs; three daughters, Kathy Shook, Arkansas City, Karen Smith of Newkirk, Okla., and Linda Banks of Geuda Springs; a sister, Pearl Schneider, Lawrence; a brother, Larry Houk of Garden City; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
