Description	:	Marvin L. Hestermann, 72, of rural Firth, Nebraska died at his home on Thursday afternoon, July 27, 2006. He was born on January 1, 1934 at rural Adams, Nebraska. He grew up on the family farm, attended a rural elementary school and graduated in 1951 from Adams High School. He worked at the Swanson Chicken Plant in Tecumseh, the John Deere Implement Shop in Sterling and as a route driver for Pepsi Cola before he was drafted into the Army in 1956. Hestermann, 72, of rural Firth, Nebraska died at his home on Thursday afternoon, July 27, 2006. He was born on January 1, 1934 at rural Adams, Nebraska. He grew up on the family farm, attended a rural elementary school and graduated in 1951 from Adams High School. He worked at the Swanson Chicken Plant in Tecumseh, the John Deere Implement Shop in Sterling and as a route driver for Pepsi Cola before he was drafted into the Army in 1956. He was married to Janice Epley on May 18, 1957 at St. John Lutheran Church in Sterling. He graduated from paratrooper school and was stationed in Fort Campbell, Kentucky with the 101st Airborne. He belonged to the Army Reserves after his term in the service and returned to work for Pepsi Cola. In 1968, he went to work for Nebraska Public Power District in Hallam, Nebraska. He retired in 1996 after working there for 28 years. On his days off, while living in Hallam, he worked for Bentzinger Grain and Equipment. In his spare time, he farmed and drove a school bus for Freeman Schools. He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell where he served on the church council and was co-chairman of the Future Planners for seven years. He had served on the board of Western United Mutual Insurance Company of Wilber and was a member of Harm Sangen Post #140 of the American Legion of Sterling.
