He was born April 2, 1935, at Miller, the son of James Thomas and Elnora Mae Goldsmith Parks. A Hoisington resident since 1960, he was a retired gas service manager for Kansas Power and Light, retiring in 1992. He married Mary Joan Fink July 9, 1961, at Utica. She died Sept. 8, 1995. Parks was a member of First Christian Church, Masonic Lodge No. 331 AF&AM, and the Order of Eastern Star Una Chapter No. 119, all of Hoisington; York Rite Lodge of Great Bend, Scottish Rite of Wichita, and Isis Shrine of Salina. He was a U. S. Army veteran. Survivors include one son, Keith A. Parks of Overland Park; one daughter, Lori Kay Parks of Lee's Summit, MO; three brothers, James L. Parks of Ellsworth, Charles R. Parks of Topeka and Kenneth W. Parks of Holyrood; and one sister, Louise Woods of Ulysses. He was preceded in death by one brother E. W. "Pat" Parks, and one sister, Henrietta Holmes. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, at the church with Rev. Paula Bell officiating. Burial will be in the Hoisington Cemetery with Masonic and military graveside rites. Friends may call from 9-11:30 a. m. Tuesday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home and from noon to service time at the church. Memorials are suggested to the church or to the Clara Barton Foundation, both in care of the funeral home.
