Description	:	Marvin W. Jansen was born December 30, 1921 in Wayne Township, Jones County, Iowa on the family farm. He was the son of William T. and Hattie (Zimmerman) Jansen. Marvin attended Wayne #6 school and later graduated from Anamosa Community High School in 1940. He then attended Cedar Rapids Business College. Marvin enlisted in the United States Army serving in the European Theater during WWII. Jansen was born December 30, 1921 in Wayne Township, Jones County, Iowa on the family farm. He was the son of William T. and Hattie (Zimmerman) Jansen. Marvin attended Wayne #6 school and later graduated from Anamosa Community High School in 1940. He then attended Cedar Rapids Business College. Marvin enlisted in the United States Army serving in the European Theater during WWII. Marvin Jansen and Dorothy Marie Prull were married May 26, 1943 at the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, rural Monticello. Following his return from service, Marvin was employed by Allis Chalmers in Creston, Iowa until the couple returned to Monticello in 1963. He worked for Cuckler Buildings for 5 years and then started Farmstead Builders in 1968. He retired in 1985. Marvin was an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. He served on the church council and the social ministry. He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and the RSVP driving service. He enjoyed any opportunity to go dancing. Marvin will be remembered by his friends and family for his constant smile, his infectious positive outlook and even-temperedness. He demonstrated his dedication to his wife on a daily basis as he lovingly cared for her throughout her illness. He gave generously to his family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and consistently showed us what true kindness, concern, and unconditional love looked like. He went beyond the bounds of friendship throughout his life by helping others in service and volunteering. He was a man of the highest integrity and honesty. We will miss him immensely, but he will live on in our hearts. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dorothy, his grandson Matt Edwards and his brothers, Clifford and Merle
