Description	:	Marvin William Oltmans, the son of Rinehart and Emma (Frey) Oltmans, was born on October 27, 1915 on a farm near Nelson, NE. Read More	Marvin William Oltmans, the son of Rinehart and Emma (Frey) Oltmans, was born on October 27, 1915 on a farm near Nelson, NE. He passed away on February 19, 2004 at Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior, NE at the age of 88 years, 3 months and 24 days. Marvin was one of six children. He was baptized by T.L. Swan at the United Brethren Church, north of Nelson. He attended grade school at Pleasant View and graduated from Nelson High School. He served in the United States Army from January 24, 1942 and was honorably discharged on November 25, 1945. He received the following decorations and military citations: Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars, WWII Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Bronze Service Arrowhead. He was united in marriage to Dorris Elaine Klawitter on April 6, 1946 at Belleville, KS. This union was blessed with four children. Marvin and Elaine have been life long residents of the Nelson area. Marvin has been a member of the Nelson United Church of Christ since 1987. He was also a member of the District #49 School Board, County Extension Board, Nuckolls County Fair Board for 25 years and a lifetime member of the Nelson American Legion Post #187 and the V.F.W. Marvin enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, and one brother, Glenn Oltmans. Survivors include his wife Elaine of Nelson; one daughter, Connie Lanham and husband Alan of Ravena, NE; and three sons, M. Scott Oltmans of Nelson, NE; Craig Oltmans and wife Lana of Holdrege, NE; and James Oltmans and wife Terri of Nelson, NE; four sisters, Esther Komp of Chicago, IL; Corrinne Good of Nelson, NE; Doris Andersen of Wallace, NE and Lila Oltmans of North Platte, NE; 10 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held on Monday, February 23, 2004 at 2:00 PM from the Nelson Community United Church of Christ in Nelson, NE with Rev. Dr. Stephen Berry officiating. Stephanie Thayer was soloist and Virginia Drohman was organist. Pallbearers were Troy Lanham, Todd Lanham, Tim Lanham, Aaron Oltmans, Avery Oltmans, and Joshua Oltmans. Honorary Pallbearers were Harlan Meyer, Bud Ferebee, Ivan Gharring, Lee Clabaugh, Wayne Garrison, John Sullivan, Hubert Simonsen, Frank Harris, Bill Karmazin, Dennis Hurt, Wray Wehrman and Jared Harrington. Interment was in the Nelson Cemetery, Nelson, NE with Full Military Rites by the Nelson American Legion Post #187. Memorials may be given to the Nelson American Legion Post #187.
