Read More	The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, August 12, 1954 Mary Agnes Murphy, daughter of James and Mary Murphy, was born January 17, 1883 at Western, Nebraska. She spent her early life in and near Western, later moving to Nelson, Nebraska. She was united in marriage to Arthur Jackson on April 29, 1903. To this union were born five children, four sons and one daughter. Her married life was spent on farms near Nelson and Angus, until moving to Edgar in 1942. She died at her home in Edgar, August 4, 1954 at the age of 71 years, 6 months and 17 days. She was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth, and daughter, Mrs. Myra Avers. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband and three sons, Durward of Edgar, Glen of council Bluffs, Ia., and Robert of the U.S. Airforce (sic), recently stationed at Anchorage, Alaska, eight grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Ed Williams, Davenport, Nebraska and one brother, Chas. Murphy, Alliance, Nebr., her step-mother, Mrs. James C. Murphy of Nelson, two half brothers, James Murphy of Nelson and Everett Murphy, Stanton, Nebr., three half sisters, Mrs. Eva Dillman, Nelson, Mrs. Mildred Herman, Oak, and Mrs. Evelyn Wagoner, Edgar, a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon, Aug. 7, 1954, at two o'clock at the Edgar Methodist Church in charge of Rev. E.E. Smith of the Christian church. Mrs. Merlin Greer and Mrs. Morley Braye sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," "Sweet Hour of Prayer" and "In the Garden." Mrs. R.J. Warne was accompanist. Pall bearers were: Messr. Recht, Kenley, Green, Cassel, Jorgensen and Cox. The flower committee consisted of Mrs. Grace Good, Mrs. Dorothy Due and Mrs. Alice Cox. Interment was in the Nelson cemetery (sic).
