Deveney, 82, former resident of Durham and widely known in Chico, who passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Max Cook, in Lafayette, near Oakland, Saturday evening after a brief illness. "Mrs. Deveney was born at Folsom, Calif., and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel A. Shellooe, pioneer residents of Glenn county. Mrs. Deveney came to Durham in 1918, from St. Johns, Glenn county, where her husband the late William Deveney was an extensive grain farmer. "After the death of her husband in 1927, Mrs. Deveney moved to Lafayette to make her home with her daughter where she had been for the past eight years. "She is survived by four children: Mrs. Max Cook, of Lafayette; Joseph Deveney, of San Francisco, William Deveney, of Denver, Colo., and George F. Deveney of Chico; one grandson, Mickey Cook of Lafayette, and four nieces and nephews, Joseph Harper of Woodland, Mrs. Remy Bally, Isabel Deveney and Brett Deveney, all of Chico. "Friends are invited to assemble at 9:15 a.m. today from the Nugent Funeral Chapel, thence to the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where a requiem mass will be said for the repose of her soul commencing at 9:30 o'clock. Interment will follow in the family plot of the Catholic section of the Chico cemetery. Recitation of the rosary was held last evening at the Nugent Chapel with Rev. Father Patrick J.
