Gladfelter, a resident of Lyon County since 1912, died Sunday morning in El Dorado. Mrs. Gladfelter had lived for many years on a farm north of Emporia along Highway 99. She had been a patient in the Flint Hills Manor Nursing Home recently and was transferred after the tornado this month to the Mid-America Rest Home in El Dorado. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Roberts-Blue-Barnett Chapel. They will be conducted by the Rev. J. Joyce Wilson, pastor of the Grace United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn. Mrs. Gladfelter was the former Mary A. Yost, daughter of David and Mary Mautz Yost. She was born Dec. 26th, 1877, in Westervelt, Ill., and she was married on Feb. 27th, 1900, in Shelbyville, Ill. Mrs. Gladfelter was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Happy Hour Club and the Master Farm Homemakers. She was preceded in death by her husband who died Nov. 30th, 1948, and by four brothers, Charles, D.O., John and Chauncey Yost, and four sisters, Charlotte Rawlings, Rhoda Fritz, Amanda Miller and Lucy Yost. She is survived by one son, Clarence F., of Rt. 5; one daughter, Mrs. Ray (Fern) Beyer, Rt. 2; one sister, Mabel Weakley, Shelbyville; four grandchildren, Mrs. Merie (Mary Jean) Hogg, San Diego, Calif.; Robert E. Gladfelter, Tulsa, Okla.; Mrs. Irving (Gladys E.) Block, Topeka, and Mrs. Fred (Ruth Marie) Rhodes, Emporia; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
