Funeral services were held at 10:30 Monday, Dec. 30 at Asbury United Methodist Church with Rev. Vernon Sorensen and Rev. James Hanke officiating. Burial was in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation was at Foster Funeral Home. Mary Aileen Snell, daughter of Adelbert and Flora Porter Snell, was born Dec 14, 1906, at Duncombe. She attended Duncombe schools, graduating in 1927. On Oct. 5, 1927, she married Ward Carden at Fort Dodge. The couple farmed near Duncombe and spent the winter months in Florida. They moved to Webster City in 1962. She was preceded in death by her husband in June of 1967. She continued to reside in Webster City and had been a resident of Southfield Care Center since March 1987. Survivors include a daughter, Ethel Samuelson of Carson City, Nev.; a son and a daughter-in-law, Robert and Betty Carden of Webster City; four grandchildren, Judi Crosley of Saratoga, Calif., Dean Carden of Duncombe, Deborah Carden of Westmont, Ill. and Diane Richardson of Webster City; six great-grandchildren and one sister-in-law, Marion Hanke of Webster City. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Richard in May of 1990, her parents, three great-grandchildren and one sister. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, a former member of the Duncombe United Methodist Church and a life member of the United Methodist Women.
