Carden, 59, a longtime resident of Webster City-Duncombe community, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. S.W. Cunningham officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery. Mr. Carden died early Saturday morning at his winter home in Hallendale Fla. Ward Parry Carden, son of William and Nellie Parry Carden, was born Oct 12, 1907, on a farm in Hamilton county near Duncombe. He received his education in Duncombe schools and grew to young manhood in that community. He was united in marriage Oct. 5, 1927, to Aileen Snell, and the couple farmed in the Duncombe area. In the fall of 1950, they retired from farming but continued to reside on the farm until 1960, when they moved into Webster City. Besides his farming interests, Mr. Carden was associated for 25 years with the Garst and Thomas Pioneer Seed Co. He is survived by his wife; one daughter and two sons, Mrs. Don (Ethel) Samuelson of Webster City; Richard Carden of Duncombe and Robert Carden of Webster City.; four grandchildren, Judi Samuelson, Dean, Deborah and Diane Carden; two nephew, William P. Hanke and James Hanke, Jr.; one sister, Mrs.(Marian)Hanke, Webster City. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister and one brother, who died in infancy. Mr. Carden was a member of the Asbury Methodist Church in Webster City and was a former member of Duncombe Farmers Elevator board, the Duncombe school board and the Duncombe town council.
