Dachenbach was born in Bedford county, Pennsylvania Sept. 27, 1839 and departed this life at her home in Russell, Iowa Sept. 30, 1928, aged eighty-nine years and two days.. She was united in marriage to John W. Foster in Bedford county, Pennsylvania, on January 20, 1855. To this union was born fourteen children, seven of whom are living. Those present at the funeral were: Mrs. E. C. Johnson of Brighton, Iowa; Mrs. Adolph Jenders, Toledo, Iowa; Mrs. Etta Mullen, Knoxville, Iowa; L. G. Foster, of Russell, Iowa; George B. Foster, Purdy, Iowa and Harvey G. Foster, of Russell, Iowa. One daughter, Mrs. Annabelle Peterson, of Canada, could not be present. Two brothers, J. H. Dachenbach of Chariton, Iowa, and William Dachenbach of Philadelphia, Pa., survive; also twenty-seven grandchildren and forty-three great grandchildren. Mrs. Foster was converted early in life and joined the Methodist church in Pennsylvania and remained a faithful member of the church until the end of her life. Shortly after her marriage, she and her husband came to Iowa and endured the hardships of pioneer life incident to the early settlement of this state. She was of a cheerful disposition and always had a kind word for everyone. For the past five years she has been greatly afflicted, but bore it all so patiently and when the final summons came, she quietly slept away and went out to be with her Lord.
