Foster John Wesley Foster, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Foster, was born in Fulton County, Pennsylvania, July 13th, 1832, and died at his home in Russell, July 22nd, 1916, aged 84 years and 9 days. He was united in marriage to Mary A. Dachenbach, January 20th, 1855. To this union were born fourteen children, seven of whom are living. Those present were, Mrs. E. C. Johnson and Lewis G. Foster of Chariton, Mrs. C. J. Mullen of Columbia, Ia., B. Foster and Harry G. Foster of Russell; Mrs. Frank Peterson of Sterlingville, Alta., Canada, and Mrs. Adolph Jendrese of Toledo, Iowa were unable to be present. Mr. Foster Joined the 195th Pennsylvania volunteers on March 16th, 1865, and served until the close of the war. He joined the Methodist Episcopal church in Pennsylvania when thirteen years of age and remained a member of the same until the time of his death. For some years past, his membership has been with the Zion M. E. church in Lucas county. He was for some time an exhorter and helped in different revivals. Mr. Foster leaves to mourn his departure his wife, seven children, twenty-six grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Also one brother, Clay Foster of Kearney, Nebraska, and two sisters, Mrs. Isabelle Smith of St. Edwards, Nebr. and Lizzie Cooper of Russell.
