Description	:	Mary Ann Bartz, 97, formerly of North Loup, died Sunday, May 19, 2013, at Tiffany Square in Grand Island. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Mount Hope Cemetery in Scotia, with Pastor Jeff Wulf officiating. A luncheon and fellowship will follow the service at the North Loup United Methodist Church. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Mary Ann was born May 16, 1916, at North Loup to Otto and Edith (Cleary) Bartz. She grew up in North Loup and graduated from North Loup High School in 1933. Mary Ann was a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Mary Ann worked at various jobs, including 10 years as the office manager for Ernest Rokahr & Sons in Lincoln, two years as auditor for Coster Hotel in Galesburg, Ill., and two years as office manager for Connecticut General Insurance Company in San Francisco, Calif. She taught for American Institute of Banking in San Francisco for four years and was a volunteer teacher of English to foreign-born students in San Francisco for 13 years. Mary Ann was a member of the Santa Barbara, Calif., Botanic Garden Guild. She taught for AARP "55Alive" drivers courses in Santa Barbara and in Central Nebraska. Mary Ann traveled to Europe, China and all over the U.S. She collected art prints during her travels. Mary Ann is survived by a number of cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.
