She was united in marriage to Cyrus Walters in July, 1863. to this union were born seven children: Charles E., Edward A., Louis H., Oliver L., George F., Lucia S. and Frank E. Beck was born at Otterville, Ill., April 4, 1844 and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Will Sien at Denver, Col., February 21, 1923 at the age of 78 years, 10 months and 17 days. She was united in marriage to Cyrus Walters in July, 1863. to this union were born seven children: Charles E., Edward A., Louis H., Oliver L., George F., Lucia S. and Frank E. The husband and two sons, Edward and Louis, preceded her to the other world. She reared one step-daughter Mrs. Lizzie Lee and a grand-daughter Mrs. Bertha Hart, both of St Louis besides her own family. Mrs. Walters lived in Edgar for forty-three years and for the past five years and more had made her home in Denver with her daughter. She leaves to mourn her death four sons, two daughters, two sister, Mrs. George Barber of Lincoln and Mrs. Josie Keans of California, one brother Joseph D. Beck of Waterloo, Ia., twenty-eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren besides other relatives and a host of friends. The latter term is used advisedly for Mrs. Walters was loved by all. In her stay at Denver she made many friends, altho ill health prevented her from discharging many social obligations, but callers sought her out and brightened her lonely hours because they enjoyed being with her. Mrs. Walter had been a faithful and consistent member of the Methodist Episcopal Church since childhood and a thue Christian to the end. She retained her membership in the Edgar Methodist Church and also in the Edgar lodges of the Degree of Honor and the Rebekah and the Woman's Relief Corps. Services were held in Yager's Mortuary parlors at Denver, conducted by the pastor of Trinity M. E. Church, on February 22 at 1 o'clock, the Rebekahs attending in a body and the Royal Neighbors also, in respect to Mrs. Sien, who is a member of that organization. The attendance of friends was large. the body was brought to Edgar for the final services and here the Methodist Church on a * February 2, at two o'clock, the last respects were paid to the memory of this worthy woman so long and so favorably known. The sermon was preached by the pastor, Rev. Wm Boyers and the hymns were sung by a quartet M. E. Cushing, J. L. Ward, Miss Luella Storrs and Miss Clemie Shuck. A good woman has gone to her reward and our loss in her gain. The good she did Eternity alone can reveal in its fullness but her steadfast faithfulness and nolbt well doing must be an inspiration to nobler living to those who knew her. Besides the sons and daughter above named, there were present at the funeral the following relatives and friends: Mrs. George Barber of Lincoln, sister of the deceased; Mr and Mrs Vleregg of Grand Island , the latter a niece; John and Chessman Beck, nephews, with their wives of Beatrice; Mrs Bertha Hart of St Louis, a grand-daughter, Miss Jennie Sien and Mr and Mrs Robert Sien of Davenport. The body * tenderly laid to rest beside that of the husband who fell asleep thirteen years ago. * is meet that Edgar which had * * been her home, should be her last resting place.
