Her three daughters, Mrs. M. Houser of Denver, Mrs. Sam Bradbury of Culver, and Mrs. Dan Sechrist of Ada, were with her thru her entire illness. Mary Ann Leeds was born July 6, 1854, near Rock Island, Illinois, and departed this life on Jan. 19, 1935 at her home in Ada Kansas. On January 12, 1871 she was united in marriage to Humphrey C. McLaughlin, and in the same year they came to Kansas, taking a homestead near Ada, where they continued to live until 1909, when they moved to Ada. To them were born five children: William H., Horace F., Sarah Gertrude, Alice Mae, and Elsie Maude. Her two sons and her husband preceeded her in death. She is survived by her three daughters, Mrs. Sarah Gertrude Bradbury of Culver; Mrs. Alice Mae Houser of Denver, Colo.; and Mrs. Elsie Maude Sechrist of Ada, also be fifteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She accepted Christ as her personal savior, and united with the Antioch Baptist church of Ada, January 25, 1879. The funeral was conducted at the baptist church at Ada, Tuesday afternoon, at 2:00 under the direction of the L.B. Smith Funeral Home, with sermon by the pastor, A.W. Lee. Burial was in the Ada cemetery.
