Description	:	Mary A. Fisher, 93, Faith and former lifelong, Drew (Perkins Co.) ranchwife, passed away late the evening of May 31st at the Sturgis Longterm Care Center. Mary Ann Schmaltz was born on July 4, 1913 at Drew, SD to Ludwig and Elizabeth (Sander) Schmaltz. She attended grade school at Brushy School and following graduation from Bison High School, she attended Northern Normal School/College in Aberdeen, SD. There she received her teaching certificate. Mary Ann Schmaltz was born on July 4, 1913 at Drew, SD to Ludwig and Elizabeth (Sander) Schmaltz. She attended grade school at Brushy School and following graduation from Bison High School, she attended Northern Normal School/College in Aberdeen, SD. There she received her teaching certificate. She taught rural schools for a number of years. On Aug. 15, 1939, Mary and Mike Fisher, Jr. were married at Strool, SD. To this union, two children were born, Patty and Michael. Her entire life was lived in the Drew Community where they ranched and farmed. She was active in the community and was a member of St. James Catholic Church at Drew and later St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Faith. Next to God, Mary's rosary was her best friend. In 1999, they moved to the assisted living facility in Faith due to health reasons and Mary's confinement to a wheel chair. After Mike's death in December of 2001, she continued to live in Faith until March of 2006 when she entered the Long Term Care Center in Sturgis. Grateful for sharing her life are her son and daughter in law, Mike and Dorothy Fisher of Faith, 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, brother, Mike Schmaltz of Bison, sister, Marguerite Fritz, Vancouver, WA and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Patty Morris in 1973, her parents, two brothers and four sisters. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, June 6th at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Faith. Rev. Fr. Arnold Kari, Rev. Fr. John Heying and Deacon Larry Brown will officiate. Interment will be in the Bison Cemetery at 2 PM. Casketbearers will include Joe Schmaltz, John Kari, Allen Fisher, Anthony Fisher, Dave Fisher, Greg Fisher, Thad Bruhn, Mike Morris and Gary Fisher.
