Elmore Sterling, one of the community's most highly respected matrons, died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Grace Somers, Sunday afternoon after an illness of several months. She was a daughter of the late Algie and Ruth Sterling, and a member of one of Somerset County's oldest and most prominent families. Elmore Sterling, one of the community's most highly respected matrons, died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Grace Somers, Sunday afternoon after an illness of several months. She was a daughter of the late Algie and Ruth Sterling, and a member of one of Somerset County's oldest and most prominent families. Mrs. Sterling had made her home for many years in the old Sterling homestead on the Johnsons Creek Road, near Crisfield, but several weeks ago her condition became so grave that she was moved to the home of her sister on upper Main street, where she gradually grew worse until the end came on Sunday. Mrs. Sterling had been active in the work, of Asbury Methodist Church for a long time, and interested in the civic and social life of the community where she was born and lived all her life. Very kind, capable and cheerful, she had a wide circle of friends and acquaintances who held her in the highest esteem and to whom her death has brought deep sorrow. Her fine personality and helpfulness had endeared her to everyone who knew her. Funeral services were held in the Asbury Methodist Church Wednesday at 2.20 p.m., conducted by her pastor, Rev. J. T. Rowlenson, assisted by Rev. Charles M. Elderdice. Interment was in the family lot at Asbury cemetery. Bearers were Joseph Pinto, Edwin Sterling, Algie Sterling, Carroll Sterling, Arthur Sterling and William Sterling. Surviving her are one son, Harold F.
