Sterling, aged and highly respected citizen of this county, died at his home on the Johnson's Creek road in the Crisfield suburbs at 2:30 Thursday morning, death being due to a complication of diseases. He was 73 years of age and had been in poor health for about two years and had been confined to his bed for the past two weeks. The deceased was a consistent member of Asbury M.E. Church and was faithful in attendance at all its services when his health would permit. He was a fine Christian gentleman and had a host of friends to whom the news of his death was received with deep regret. He was a son of the late Noah C. and Mary Sterling and is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ruth Sterling; three daughters, Mrs. Avalon Daugherty, of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Mrs. Grace Somers and Miss Mary Sterling of Crisfield; one brother, William C. Sterling, of Crisfield, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Tull of Hampton, Va. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. J.T. Rowlenson. Interment will be in Asbury cemetery. Asbury Council, No. 151, Jr. O.U.A.M., of which the deceased was a Past Councilor, will have charge of the services at the grave.
