''''''''''''''''' The Humphrey Democrat, July 31, 1925, p. 5, col. 3 Mrs. Mary Schneberger Died On Last Monday Afternoon Mrs. Anna Schneberger passed away at the home of Mrs. Anna Rollman on last Monday afternoon. Funeral services were held Monday morning at the St. Francis church and the funeral cortege then drove to Ulysses, Nebraska, where the deceased was laid to rest in the family lot. Mrs. Schneberger, whose maiden name was Mary Anna Jung, was born in Germany, on the twenty-sixth day of November, 1842. She spent her girlhood days and grew in womanhood in the land of her nativity, coming to Nebraska in the year of 1870. In the year of 1872 she was united in marriage to Jacob Schneberger at Seward Nebraska, and they made their home on a farm near that city. To this union five children were born, Anna, who was Mrs. Adam Reinmiller, Francis, who was Mrs. John Reinmiller, John, Thomas, and George, who all preceded their mother in death. The remaining living child is Mrs. J. J. Schroeder, of Columbus. Mr. Schneberger died on the twenty-third day of March, 1889, and Mrs. Schneberger continued to make her home on the farm with her children until 1905 when she came to Humphrey where she made her home until her death. Over half a century of her life was spent in this state. She came to Nebraska when the bleak prairies were mostly inhabited by Indians and buffalo, with a few scattering hamlets throughout its broad expanse. Undaunted by the hardships they had to undergo in the pioneer life she and her helpmate made their home on these bleak prairies and there, with other pioneers, assisted in turning these prairies into the beautiful magnificent farms of today. For themselves they builded a monument which speaks of self-sacrifice and labor, the results of which we enjoy today. Mrs. Schneberger was born and reared in the Catholic church and lived as a devout member until death. She was a member of the Christian Mothers Society and the Third Order of the St. Francis Parish of this city. Besides her daughter, Mrs. J. J. Schroeder, she is survived by two stepchildren, Jacob and William Schneberger, of Staplehurst, Nebraska. ___ col. 2 Card of Thanks We wish in this way to thank the many kind friends and neighbors for their deeds of loving kindness during the illness and following the death of our beloved mother.
