Rohner, long identified with the life of Carroll and vicinity, passed away at 8:10 Saturday evening at the St. Anthony hospital, her death following a slight stroke which she suffered last Tuesday. She had been takent to the hospital the day she was stricken. Mrs. Rohner would have been 89 years old March 3. Funeral services are to be at 9 o'clock Tuesday morning at St. Joseph's church, with the Rt. Rev. Monsignor P.T. Lynch offering the requiem mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery beside her husband. The body is resting at the Gallagher Funeral Home until the time of the rites. Mrs. Rohner, a native of Dubuque, Iowa, where she was born March 3, 1855, spent most of her life in Carroll. Her maiden name was Mary A. Kniest, daughter of Lambert and Mary A. Kniest. Her father, who named the village of Mt. Carmel, came to Kneist township, Carroll county in a covered wagon, accompanied by his daughter, the late Mrs J.M. Drees. Mrs Rohner, then 12, made the trip by train and kept house for her father untill her mother and other members of the family arrived from Dubuque. Mrs. Drees, having, in the meantime, gone back to Dubuque to accompany her mother here. Mrs. Rohner, who was graduated from St. Clara's College, Sinsinawa Mound, Wis., had been assistant principal of Carroll High School. Her marriage to Mr Rohner too place in Carroll Oct 4, 1881. With the exception of 2 1/2 years spent in Raton, New Mexico in the early part of their married live, Mr and Mrs Rohner have lived in Carroll from the time of their wedding. Mr Rohner, who operated a photograph studio here, died Nov 28, 1926. Mrs Rohner leaves 7 children: Dr Frank Rohner, Iowa city; Lambert Rohner, Carroll; Mrs William Murray, Minneapolis, MN; Dr Joseph Rohner, Maywood, IL; Mrs Fred Beyer, Dubuque; and Philip and Edward of Carroll; 18 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. Her surviving brother and sisters are: Frank V Kneist, Omaha; Mrs J.W. Kennebeck, Omaha; and Mrs A.J. Beyer, Carroll. She was preceded in death by 4 sisters: Mrs J.M. Drees, Mrs George Hoch, Agnes Kniest, and Mrs Edward Adams; and two brothers Lambert and John Kniest.
