Description	:	Rites for Mrs. Balleweg Conducted Thursday Funeral services for Mrs. Otto Balleweg, who passed away suddenly at her home in Creighton at the age of 53 years on Monday, Sept. 21, were held at St. Ludger Catholic church Thursday morning. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Joseph B. Falke, pastor, officiated. Interment was in St. Ludger Cemetery. Pallbearers were John Wilmes, Leo Shaffer, Joe Neyens, Adolph Stoural, Leo Wagner and Fritz Dostal. Mary Augusta Tharnish was born at Exira, Ia., Oct. 29, 1899, the daughter of Henry Tharnish and Elizabeth Nepper. In 1910 the family moved to Creighton. She attended St. Ludger Academy. She was united in marriage to Otto W. Balleweg June 23, 1920 at Creighton, where she has lived all her married life. To this union were born four children. Surviving are her husband, Otto; two sons and two daughters, Mrs. Phillip (Loretta) Hutchinson of Reno, Nev.; Eugene of Creighton, Mrs. Robert (Bernadette) Dvorak of Verdigre and Francis in the Army at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.; eight grandchildren; her mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Tharnish of Creighton; four sisters, Sr. M. Rosaline O.S.F. of Bellwood, Mrs. Elizabeth Mathine of Creighton and Mrs. Emily Boyle of Sioux City, Ia.; five brothers, Ernest, Henry, Albert and Joseph of Creighton and Leo Tharnish of Lincoln. Her father and one brother preceded her in death. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Royal Neighbors of America, Thursday Club and American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Phillip Hutchinson and daughter, Sally, arrived Tuesday morning form Reno, Nev. and were met in Omaha by her brother, Gene, and brother-in-law, Robert Dvorak of Verdigre and Bob Bartling. Arriving Tuesday evening was Pvt. Francis Balleweg of Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. He was met at Norfolk by his wife and Sterling Bertwell. ...The Creighton News 1 Oct 1953
