(Funeral details followed.) Mrs. Mary C. Nelson was born in Denmark, December 3, 1875, the daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Hans Mikkelsen and departed this life on Wednesday, January 9, 1957 at the age of 81 years, 1 month and 6 days. At the age of nine, she came with her parents to America and on to Nebraska. She lived in this community since a young girl, experiencing the hardships of pioneer living with courage and determination. She was married in St. Paul, Nebraska to Nels J. Nelson, March 2, 1892. To this union was born ten children. Mrs. Nelsen was a member of the Danish Lutheran Church and of The Royal Neighbors Lodge. She had a great devotion to her family and will always be an inspiration to them. Though not in the best of health the past few years, she wished to remain active and busy and did so to the very end. Her love for flowers and growing things was always in evidence in her yard and house plants. She had made many friends who will greatly miss her ready wit and cheerful smile. She was a kind and loving mother and a faithful friend to all who knew her. Mr. Nelsen preceded her in death, two years after they had celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Three sons are also deceased, George, Louis and Arthur. She leaves to mourn her passing, five daughters, Mrs. Hattie Mentzer, Ericson; Mrs. Marie Nelson, Broken Bow; Mrs. Mable Wohlers, Omaha; Mrs. Esther Bussell, Scotia, and Mrs. Lillian Nelson, North Platte; two sons, Otto Nelson, Lincoln and Andy Nelson, Wolbach; a sister, Mrs. Lillie Sullenger, Denver, Colorado; two brothers, Louie Mikkelson, Gunnison, Colorado and Fred Mikkelsen, Perry, Oklahoma; 19 grand-children and 19 great-grandchildren.
