She made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Herman Meyer, for some time past, making extended visits with other members of the family from time to time. Read More	The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, January 11, 1940 Mary Kathrine (sic) Shipps, daughter of Nathan and Elizabeth Shipps was born near Zanesville, Ohio, April 12, 1862, and died at the hospital in Omaha January 4, 1940, being 77 years, 8 months and 23 days old. She made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Herman Meyer, for some time past, making extended visits with other members of the family from time to time. She moved at an early age with her parents from Ohio to Missouri where she grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage to William Raines February 6th, 1888, at which time they made their home on a farm near Beaver Crossing, Nebr. To this union four children were born: Bessie who passed away in infancy, Lillian M. (Mrs. Herman Meyer) who lives near Nelson, Ray N. and Ralph E. both of Crete, Neb. Her husband preceded her in death, passing awaw (sic) on November 20, 1923. She also raised two children, left orphans, a niece and nephew, Mrs. D.L. Bassler and Melvin Shipps both of Milwaukee, Wisc. She united with the Methodist church (sic) at Spickardsville, Mo., as a young woman. She leaves to mourn her departure, the three children mentioned and the niece and nephew to whom she was mother for many years, five granddaughters and five brothers, Samuel Shipps, Ava, Mo., Frank Shipps, Trento, Mo., E.F. Shipps, Spickardsville, Mo., Milton Shipps, Havelock, Nebr., and Seward Shipps, Lincoln, Nebr. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. John Caldwell in the Presbyterian church (sic) Saturday afternoon at one o'clock. Burial was in the cemetry (sic) at Superior. CARD OF THANKS We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to our neighbors and friends for the kind words of sympathy, all the help given us, and for the many beautiful floral offerings at the death of our mother and aunt. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Meyer and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Raines and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Raines and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Don L. Bassler, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Shipps.
