There were other Coello family members living in Iron Mountain, Michigan thus it is likely she was born there when her family first immigrated to America. Mary was the daughter of Peter Coello and Maria Anna Conterio. Her father, Peter Coello immigrated to America from his home in Locana, Italy. Peter was a miner. There were other Coello family members living in Iron Mountain, Michigan thus it is likely she was born there when her family first immigrated to America. Mary was the daughter of Peter Coello and Maria Anna Conterio. Her father, Peter Coello immigrated to America from his home in Locana, Italy. Peter was a miner. Her mother, Maria Anna Conterio immigrated from the Piedmont region of Italy. Locana and Piedmont are both in the Northwest Region of Italy located at the foot of the Alps near the France and Switzerland border. The major Italian city in that area is Turin. Mary's parents were married in Michigan. Mary had two brothers: the older: Batista Coello born in 1895 also in Michigan and her younger: Peter John Coello born in 1898 in Meaderville. The family moved from Michigan to Butte, Montana in 1898. Peter and Maria soon divorced after their arrival in Meaderville. Mary's father, Peter was murdered outside a tavern in Meaderville on Nov 4, 1905. Mary's mother, Maria Anna remarried Frank Caselli, also a miner. The marriage resulted in the birth of Mary's half siblings in Meaderville: Clara was born in 1899, Frank in 1902 and Lydia in 1906. Her mother and Frank Caselli would move to San Mateo (a suburb of San Francisco), California about 1920. Mary was attending school in Meaderville and was living at 28 Harrison Street. Meaderville was the Italian section of Butte, MT. The city of Meaderville no longer exists, it was located where the Berkeley Pit in Butte now occupies. Mary Coello died at the age of 13 of aortic insufficeiency on July 11, 1910. She was buried in the Catholic Cemetery (St Patrick's on July 13).
