Description	:	Boone County Democrat August 17, 1910 At 1:00 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at her home, 713 Sixth street, Mrs. Mary Nicholas died of heart failure without a moments warning. She had eaten a hearty dinner and seemed in her usual health. After dinner a watermelon peddler came along the street and she went out and bought a melon. Her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Maggie Fitch, of Des Moines, who was visiting her, was standing on the porch talking to her as she returned to the house. Her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Maggie Fitch, of Des Moines, who was visiting her, was standing on the porch talking to her as she returned to the house. As she came up the steps she suddenly threw up her hands and cried to the daughter to catch her. She fell into Mrs. Fitch’s arms and expired immediately. Mr. Nichols was away on the road at the time and could not be reached. A message was sent her sons, F.W. Fitch, who with his family have been at Lake Okoboji for some time, and he immediately started home. Obituary will be given later. ******** She married first to Lucius Henry Carey Fitch (1808-1889) and later to George Steffy, and finally John Nichols.
