No children. OBITUARY: Cumberland Evening News (Cumberland, Maryland), Friday, Feb 14, 1936 – Page 9 Mrs. Asa T. Matthews, 56, died at her home on Second street, Oakland, last Thursday afternoon, February 6, following a lingering illness. She had been a semi-invalid for a number of years and had been bedfast since August. Funeral services were conducted from the home, Rev. William Ashley, officiating, assisted by Rev. Charles A. Shilke. Interment was in the Oakland cemetery. Mrs. Matthews was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel C. Hoye of Deer Park. She was married to Mr. Matthews in 1924, in Oakland, by Rev. W. F. Bayle, then rector of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church. Besides her husband, she is survived by one sister, Mrs. John Felty, of Rowlesburg, W. Va. Mr. Matthews is district counsel, Home Owners Loan Corporation, with headquarters in the Federal building, this city. (Transcribed by Ronn E.
