Description	:	wife of RE Pierson Mrs. Ray Pierson [Mary Pierson] of Broughton, a bride of but a few short months, died Thursday afternoon at the Clay Center Hospital, whither she had been hurried in the vain hope that surgery might save her life. The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at the Broughton church, following short services at the home, and interment was at the Broughton Cemetery. Rev. W.W. Carpenter had charge of the services. Mrs. Pierson was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. N.E. Keener, and a very fine young lady. Mary Elisabeth Keener, only daughter of N.E. Keener and wife, was born July 4, 1900, at Rossville, Kan., and died at Clay Center, on July 22, 1920, aged 20 years and 18 days. She lived with her parents In the vicinity of her birthplace, until five years ago when they moved to Broughton, where they lived ever since. She married Ray Pierson on July 26, 1918, and they lived in the Broughton neighborhood since that time. Her death was very sudden, following but a few hours of intense suffering. The young husband has the sincere sympathy of the entire community. She leaves to mourn her untimely death, her husband; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. N.E. Keener; two brothers, Lee and Harold Keener; a grandmother, Mrs. Henry Strimple, of Rossville, Kan.; aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.
