She married Edward J Lucey on Jun 5, 1875 in Boone, Iowa. They were the parents of 6 children: Julia, Mary (Mayme), John, Edward, Marguret, and Jeremiah. Jan 22, 1914 - Carroll Times - Mrs. Edward J. Lucey died at 8 o'clock Monday evening, January 19, at her home in this city, the cause of each being pernicious anaemia from which the deceased has suffered for the past two years. The funeral took place this morning at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic church of which she was a member and burial was made in the cemetery of that parish. Mary Elizabeth Grace was born May 19, 1856 at Mayo, Tipperary county, Ireland, her parents being John and Julia Grace. They moved to America when the subject of this sketch was only one year old and settled in LaSalle County, Illinois in 1865. They moved to Boone, Iowa where she was married June 5, 1875, to Edward J Lucey, who survives her. To this union six children were born, four of whom are living, their names being: Mrs William Drey, John, Edward, and Jerry Lucey. All of these are residents of Carroll. Two sisters Mrs Lee Carver and Mrs C.F. Hamilton, preceded her in death as did also one brother, James Grace. Mr and Mrs Lucey came to Carroll March 15, 1879 and have made this city their home ever since that time. Mrs Lucey was a devout member of St Joseph's church and received the last rites of her church just before her death at the hands of Rev Fathers McCarty, Kuemper and Conway. She was also a valued member of the Ladies Sodality and the Daughters of Isabella and her death will be mourned by a wide cicle of friends as well as by those of her own home circle.
