Asbury, 91 years old, widow of the late W. H. H. Asbury, and the oldest active club woman in Ottumwa, died at her home, 310 E. Maple Ave., at 8:30 AM today. She has been a resident of Ottumwa since 1869 and of Wapello County since 1854, when she came to Iowa from her home in Miami County, Ohio where she was born January 26, 1841. Mrs. Asbury was married May 5, 1867. A charter member of the Y. W. C. A. Mrs. Asbury served on the board of the association until about the time of the new building was occupied here. Failing health, some years ago, curtailed her activities in this and other work. She was a life member of the "Y" association. Mrs. Asbury served as secretary of Cloutman post Women's Relief Corps for 30 years. She was a member of the Bayview Club of Ottumwa since 1906 and an active in the organization until her death. She was also member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ottumwa. Her husband preceded her in death, September 14, 1919. Three children also preceded her in death. Surviving are two brothers, Austin Jay of Moravia and Charles of Los Angeles, California, and one sister, Mrs. Rhoda Arnold of Humeston. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Wednesday from the residence. The Rev. H. Sears Thomson, D. D., Pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be made in the Ottumwa cemetery.
