Description	:	Mrs. Mary Sturdy died Friday, April 11 at the Lawrence Memorial hospital. Services were held Sunday in the Vinland Methodist church with Rev. Robert Harvey in charge. Burial was in the Vinland cemetery. Lamb Funeral home of Baldwin was in charge of arrangements. Survivors include a son, Woodrow Sturdy of Vinland; a daughter, Mrs. Edna Devault of Creston, Iowa; three half-sisters, Mrs. Jennie Evans, of California, and Mrs. Annabell Wight and Mrs. Nellie Kerr, both of Greenfield, Iowa; a half-brother, William Sturdy of Greenfield; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Mary E. Sturdy, the daughter of Charles and Edna Miller, was born August 26, 1886 near Milledgeville, Ill. She was married November 29, 1906 to Lemuel Sturdy of Fontanelle, Iowa, who preceded her in death in 1937. She moved to the Vinland community at the time of her marriage and lived there to the time of her death. She was an active member of the Methodist church as long as she was able to attend. - Baldwin Ledger
