Mr. and Mrs. Ayres were married in June, 1915, in the old Methodist Church parsonage in Chelan. Active in community service, Mrs. Ayres was a member of the Methodist Church, 25 Mile Creek Grange, Cascade Rebekah Lodge No. 131, Royal Neighbors and WCTU. Her husband and one son preceded her in death. Funeral services were held yesterday at 2 pm from the Chelan Methodist Church with the Rev. J. J. Ellington officiating. Concluding services and interment took place in Riverview Cemetery. Lush Funeral Home was in charge. (LaPorte) Ayres sold the homestead to the State and it became part of the state park. Their home was torn down, as it was very large and people were living in it. The State didn't want people living there. Virginia and Pat's little cabin is still standing - barely as of 2010.
