OBITUARY Weaver—Mary Elizabeth Walker was born near Bowling Green, Ky., Oct. 3, 1868; died Sunday evening, April 16, 1922, at her home, 1111 Kickapoo street, Hiawatha, Kans. She left Kentucky in 1870; with her parents came to Missouri. Later the family moved to Brown county, Kans., locating on Kentucky Ridge in 1871. She spent most of her life near Hamlin. She became a member of Christian church at Reserve when Rev. Mr. Redline was the pastor. She was married to John Weaver, Jan. 30, 1889, at Hiawatha by Rev. James McGuire. To this union one son was born, Robert, of Hamlin. She leaves to mourn her death a husband, son, one grandson, father, mother, Mr. and Mrs. John Walker, of Hiawatha, one sister, Mrs. Geo. E. Dotson, of Padonia. She has lived in Hiawatha 2 years, moving here from the farm near Hamlin. She united with the Christian church in Hiawatha March 13, 1921. She lived a consistent Christian life. She had a multitude of friends because she was a friend to all. She had been afflicted with heart trouble for past few years. She visited her sister Sunday with other relatives, came home in the evening, did some chores, read the Bible, was preparing to retire when she had an attack of heart trouble, died within 10 minutes. Brief service was held 1:30 Wednesday afternoon at the home. The funeral was held in the Baptist church at Hamlin at 2:30, conducted by Rev. T. V. Hubbell, assisted by Rev. Roy Hillyer. Interment was made in Hamlin cemetery where 6 children of Mr. and Mrs. John Walker have been laid to rest. —The Hiawatha Daily World (Hiawatha, KS) Thur. April 20, 1922, p.4.
