Mary, daughter of Charles and Sarah Stanton, was born January 12, 1902 in Nodaway, Iowa and died Wednesday, February 12, 1997 at the Good Samaritan Center in Red Oak, Iowa. She attended school at the McMilian County Schools through the eighth grade, then attended Nodaway High School in 1920 and also received her teaching certificate. Mary, daughter of Charles and Sarah Stanton, was born January 12, 1902 in Nodaway, Iowa and died Wednesday, February 12, 1997 at the Good Samaritan Center in Red Oak, Iowa. She attended school at the McMilian County Schools through the eighth grade, then attended Nodaway High School in 1920 and also received her teaching certificate. Mary taught country school traveling by horseback. She and Archie Else were married June 29, 1921. They farmed for 38 years until his death. She moved to Villisca where she died during work for twenty years. After her marriage to Chris Kohl on September 7, 1977, they lived in Clearmont, Missouri. She moved to Red Oak in 1989. Mary was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Red Oak, the Federation of Women’s Club, the Auxiliary of WW1, Missionary Society, Rebekah Lodge #556 of Villisca, Retired Teachers Association, Women’s Christian Club, Monday Club, and Bible Study Group. She was organist for Radio KFNF concerts and continued to play at the center. Preceding her in death was her husband Archie on September 15, 1959, and husband Chris on September 4, 1978. Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Moon and husband Bill of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Betty Daronld of Red Oak, Iowa; six grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren.Memorials are suggested to either the Good Samaritan Center or the Assembly of God Church.
