CLEVELAND -- Ethel Eudy Wilhelm, 97, Statesville, formerly of Cleveland, died Sunday (Jan. 12, 2003) at Davis Medical Center, Statesville. Born Oct. 29, 1905, in Rowan County, Mrs. Wilhelm, a daughter of the late Claudius Ray and Mary Hill Eudy, was educated in the Salisbury city schools. She retired from West Rowan High School, where she worked in the cafeteria. The oldest living member of Christ Episcopal Church, she was a member of the Episcopal Church Women and a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of West Rowan Senior Citizens and the Homemaker's Club, where she had perfect attendance in her 50 years of membership. The former president of Cleveland School PTA, she was the county council PTA president. Her husband, Glenn Carmac Wilhelm, died Dec. 11, 2000, and a son, Larry Wilhelm, died April 11, 1994. Survivors include sons William Wilhelm, Ormond Beach, Fla., and John W. Wilhelm, Crawfordville, Ga.; daughters Irene Sherrill, Statesville, and Sallie Dillon, Cleveland; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Christ Episcopal Church, conducted by the Rev. Harold Elsner, pastor. Burial, family plot in the church cemetery. Visitation: After the service in the parish hall of the church. Lyerly Funeral Home, Salisbury, is in charge. Memorials:Christ Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 37, Cleveland, NC 27013.
