GAINESVILLE, Fla. - William "Bill" Ray Wilhelm, of Gainesville, died Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fla. Mr. Wilhelm was born Sept. 16, 1932, in Cleveland N.C. He was a graduate of N.C. State University and was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired to Ormond Beach in 1994 after 33 years with the Soabar Division of Avery Dennison, where he progressed from Junior Salesman to Vice President and National Sales Manager, a position he held for many years. Mr. Wilhelm was an avid sports fan and spent most of his retirement on the golf course with his friends. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lois Smith; son Madison Hill Wilhelm and wife Beverly of Atlanta, Ga.; daughter Rachelle Smith Prater and husband David of Plano, Tex.; grandchildren Ross M. and Matthew R. Wilhelm and Hunter D., Connor W. and Cole M. Prater; sisters Sally Dillon of Cleveland and Irene Sherrill of Statesville, N.C.; and brother John Wilhelm of Crawfordsville, Ga. Service: A service will be held Monday at Christ Episcopal Church on Old Highway 70 in Cleveland.
