Mrs. Fitzgerald nee Mary Garvey, was born in Dingle, County Cork, Ireland in 1828, and at the time of her death was about eighty years of age. When a young woman she came to America and lived for a while at Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts. There she was married to Patrick Fitzgerald and in 1863 they removed to Bureau County, Illinois. In 1886 they came to Iowa and settled on a farm in Dodge Township. In 1886 they removed to another farm in Harrison Township and in 1895 they came to Boone and have resided here since. The husband and three children survive, Mrs. F.P. Sullivan, Mrs. James F. Lacey and Thomas Fitzgerald. Two brothers also survive, Lawrence and Patrick Garvey of the northern part of the county. The funeral will be held on Saturday forenoon from the Church of the Sacred Heart when high mass will be celebrated. Rev. Father Saunders will officiate and the remains laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery. In the death of Mrs. Fitzgerald there passes away a woman who was good and kind to all, who had lived a sincere and devout Christian life, and in her passing away the bereaved husband and family have the sincere sympathy of a wide circle of friends.
