Swick on April 26, 1905. ~~~~~~~~ From Gordon Journal, June 6, 1975, page 6, transcribed by Linda Berney: Mary Swick - Mary Helen Kohout, oldest daughter of Joseph and Catharine Kohout, was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia, on Dec. 8, 1883 and died at the Gordon Memorial hospital on July 27, 1975. She came with her parents and two brothers to the States at the age of two. She spent her childhood in the vicinity of Rushville and it was in this vicinity she grew to womanhood. On April 26, 1905 she was united in marriage to George J. Swick and to this union were born a son and a daughter Raleigh and Esther. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1934 and her daughter in 1970. Also preceding her in death were two brothers and a sister. In 1937 she moved form her farm home to her home in Clinton and lived alone there until April 10, 1975 when she became a resident of the Good Samaritan home in Gordon, and resided there until the time of her death. Mrs. Swick was a faithful member of the Clinton Methodist church. Prior to that she was a member of the Presbyterian church in Gordon. She was kind and conscientious person and was affectionately known as "Aunt Mary" by most all those who knew her and was especially proud to be called "Grandma". Surviving Mrs. Swick are her son Raleigh of Gordon, seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Services were held in the Clinton United Methodist church with the Rev. Roy Brown officiating. Chamberlain-Gates mortuary was in charge. Interment was made in the Gordon cemetery. Pallbearers: Milton Burleigh, Louis Burleigh, Marvin Morgan, Tom Aspinall, Marvin Roth, Myron Jacobson.
