Read More	Dies in California Ms. Jake Fischer Gives Up Struggle Body Now on Way Home For Burial A message was received here Sunday morning bearing the sad tidings of the death of Mrs. Jake Fischer in California where she had gone just two weeks previous in the vain hope that the change of climate might be beneficial. While there last winter she had been much better and came home in the spring feeling fairly well, but during the summer the old trouble came back worse than ever and in spite of all that could be done for her she steadily grew worse. A trip was made to Rochester, but the physicians there were unable to give her any relief, and as a last resort Mr. Fischer took her to the sunny south land, hoping to thus prolong her life. But the disease had too fast a hold on her. Miss Mary Hoppetz was born near Berlin, Germany, on March 15, 1855 and was in her sixty second year at the time of her death. She came to America as a young woman. Arriving in Wessington in the early eighties with the first great rush of homesteaders she filed on a homestead in Bates township, not far from Mr. Fischers homestead. She and Mr. Fischer were married in 1883. Seven children were born to this union, six sons and one daughter, all of whom are left to mourn her loss. She was a good and faithful wife and a loving mother and her going will leave a void in the home which can never be filled. The body is now on the way home and will probably arrive about Friday. No definite arrangements have yet been made for the funeral, but it is quite likely that it will be held on Sunday.
