KLUENDER Mary Ida Foster Kluender was born on July 30, 1920 to Walter and Clara Foster at Kewanee in her grandparents Foster's home. She passed away at Cherry County Hospital in Valentine Nov. 6, 1991 at age 71. Mary attended grade school at Kewanee and high school at Brownlee and Valentine. She graduated with her class of 1938 at Valentine. She taught two years before her marriage to Walter Kluender on April 6, 1940 in Valentine. In 1942, she was confirmed into Zion Lutheran Church at Mission. Walter and may's union was blessed with four sons, Robert, Larry, James, and William. Mary was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, assisting many times in selecting Girls Staters. Since her retirement, she has been on the Sawyer Memorial Library Board. Her hobbies and special interests were crocheting, gardening, cooking, and family. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Clara Foster; one brother, Clem; one sister, Elsie Nagel; and one nephew, Jim Foster. She is survived by her husband, Walter; four sons, Robert of his wife, Sharon of Imperial, NE, Lary and his wife, Jean, of Valentine, James and his friend, Linda, of Rapid city, William and his wife, Karen, of Sioux City, IA; three granddaughters; seven grandsons; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Darrel and Clair Foster of Sparks, and Hugh Foster of Valentine; and five sisters, Minnie Woods of Englewood, OH, Irene Haase of Norfolk, Ruth Frauen of Sparks, Darlene Ryschon of Valentine, and Janice Long of Chandler, OK. Funeral services were held Nov. 9, 1991 at Zion Lutheran with the REV. Traudt officiating. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery in Valentine.
