Mrs. Cornelius Sterling, who has been critically ill with pneumonia at her home on Main Street for the past two weeks, passed away from this life, on Sunday morning last, just as the church bells were calling the worshipers to the nearby house of God. Mrs. Sterling had had consumption for several years, and when taken with pneumonia, but little hopes were entertained by her physician for her recovery. Mrs. Cornelius Sterling, who has been critically ill with pneumonia at her home on Main Street for the past two weeks, passed away from this life, on Sunday morning last, just as the church bells were calling the worshipers to the nearby house of God. Mrs. Sterling had had consumption for several years, and when taken with pneumonia, but little hopes were entertained by her physician for her recovery. Still it was impossible for her husband and children to believe or realize that the mother who had always been the guiding light in the home was to be taken from them and when she seemed somewhat improved they were encourage and believed she would recover. A change for the worse took place on Thursday, and she gradually sank, until death relieved her sufferings on Sunday morning. Mrs. Sterling was a gentle, estimable christian lady, and an ideal wife and mother. She was for years a consistent member of Mount Pleasant Church, though ill health had for a long time prevented her attendance at church services. A husband Mr. Cornelius Sterling, and eight children, Mrs. Joshua Horsey, Mrs. C. H. Loockerman, Mrs. Jerome Sterling, Misses Effie and Marianna Sterling, and Messrs. Martin, John, and Aaron Sterling survived her. Funeral services were conducted at the residence on Wednesday afternoon, by Rev. W. S. Phillips, of Mt. Pleasant and Rev. S. N.
