On October 21, 1932, she married William Paul Shrader. J.H. Yarborough, Justice of the Peace, performed the ceremony in Chester County, South Carolina. She was a daughter of John and Rachel Childers. Read More	My Mom: Mary Jane Childers was born July 31, 1912 in York County, South Carolina. She died December 6, 1985 in Spartanburg Regional Hospital. On October 21, 1932, she married William Paul Shrader. J.H. Yarborough, Justice of the Peace, performed the ceremony in Chester County, South Carolina. She was a daughter of John and Rachel Childers. She was a member of the Church of God, in Lockhart. She loved God and her church. She would play her piano and sing her favorite gospel songs.She had pretty blue eyes and hair as white as snow. Mom and Dad had six children: J. C., Earl, Paul Jr., Frank, Martha and James. She was a sister to: Fannie Mae Childers, Lucy Childers Freeman, Ella V. Childers Crocker, Harry Childers, Willie Childers, Luther Childers, Mason Childers, Charlie Childers and Walter Childers. Mom would tell us and later her grandchildren about Paul Jr. She would always say he was 2 years 3 months and 18 days old. Even though I wasn't born until two years later, I almost felt like I knew him, from listening to her talk about him. Mom and Dad worked in the cotton mills. She was a spinner. Back then there was no air conditioning, and you got very little air through the windows. She was 12 years old when she went to work in Lockhart Mill. Some children in our area went to work as young as nine. Some had to stand on a box or something to reach the spindles, to get a job. Like the other children she would give her pay to her Dad to use as he saw fit. Times was hard back then, but you learned early to work hard and trust in God. Now her work is over and she's at rest in Heaven with Jesus, Dad and three of her children.
