Madders (senr.), passed away at the Demaine Hospital on Tuesday, December 16 at the age of 76 years and 11 months. MADDERS, SNR. A well-known and highly respccted resident of Torbanlea, Mrs. J. Madders (senr.), passed away at the Demaine Hospital on Tuesday, December 16 at the age of 76 years and 11 months. The late Mrs. Madders was born in Abercorn, South Wales, and sailed for Australia with her husband on April I2, 1886, on the 'Scottish Hero', landing in Maryborough on August 3, 1886. She came to Torbanlea with her husband who followed coal mining, and with the exception of 13 years spent in the Bluff, Central Queensland, and two years in New South Wales, she has resided in this district ever since. The late Mrs. Madders is survived by a husband, Mr. J. Madders (senr) six sons, James, William, David, Thomas, Robert and George Madders, and six daughters, Mrs. C. Ross (Burum). Mrs. D. Kerr, Mrs. J. Kerr, Mrs. A. Taylor (Torbanlea), Mrs. H. Linde (Ipswich) and Mrs. J. Alan (Torbanlea). There are also 43 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The funeral took place from the Torbanlea Methodist Church on Wednesday after noon for the Howard Cemetery. The Rev. Hughes of Maryborough conducted the service at the church and at the graveside.
