Description	:	Mary J. Raines was born in Cedar Co., Missouri, Dec. 10, 1846. At the age of four years, she moved with her parents to Mills Co., Iowa. There her girlhood days were spent, and on Dec. 13, 1866, she was married to Spencer Boyd, at Glenwood, Iowa. Four children were born to them. Read More	Mary J. Raines was born in Cedar Co., Missouri, Dec. 10, 1846. At the age of four years, she moved with her parents to Mills Co., Iowa. There her girlhood days were spent, and on Dec. 13, 1866, she was married to Spencer Boyd, at Glenwood, Iowa. Four children were born to them. In 1891 the family moved to Chelan, being some of the pioneers of that time, and the Boyd home was a noted home for its hospitality, younger folks, now forty to fifty years of age call to memory the pleasant times enjoyed at their fireside, where the used to assemble for singing and enjoy the evenings with the young people. Mrs. Boyd always met them with a smile and a welcome that will not soon be forgotten. Sunday School Church, and all things for the up building of character received an impetus from this home. Ministers coming to serve the people of Chelan always found the Boyd home open and ready until their household goods arrived there. Many a preacher's wife will often look back to the little delicacies, which came from the hands of Mrs. Boyd. A sadness came to this home in 1907, when the husband and father passed to his reward, and the next year, William, the eldest son, followed and was laid to rest beside his father. Now the mother has been called, passing away on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 1918. three children survive her. One son, Elmer L. Boyd, two daughters, Mrs. Geo. Roland and Mrs. John Carpenter, all of Chelan. Also a sister, Mrs. W. N. Phipps, Glenwood, Iowa, and a brother, L. W. Raines, Anaheim, Ca.
